Belmond Villa Sant'Andrea
Wedding video + photos
A Belmond villa right on the water at Mazzarò Bay, just below the hilltop town of Taormina. Veronica and Massimo married up in the old town, then brought everyone back down here for dinner by the sea and a dance party on the beach.
A film we shot at Villa Sant'Andrea

From the wedding we filmed here
Veronica and Massimo's day moved between Taormina's old town and the sea. After their ceremony at Chiesa di Varo, the newlyweds led their guests down Corso Umberto behind a band of folkloric musicians, and the night landed here at Villa Sant'Andrea: dinner on the water, then dancing on the beach.
Quick facts
- A 19th-century villa on its own private beach on the Bay of Mazzarò, Taormina
- Subtropical gardens with bougainvillea and a terrace over the sea
- A cable car links Mazzarò with the center of Taormina; Catania airport is about 50 minutes away
From behind the camera
Filming at Villa Sant'Andrea: what we've learned.
- Best first look spot
- Veronica and Massimo skipped a first look and saved that moment for the aisle: Massimo first saw Veronica as she walked toward him at their Catholic ceremony at Chiesa di Varo, up in Taormina.
- The light
- Golden hour in Taormina is magical. After the ceremony, musicians led a procession from the church to the town square, where everyone enjoyed the music and Italian ice. Then we took Veronica and Massimo away with the photographers for golden hour portraits before dinner here by the sea.
- The reception
- Veronica and Massimo held their reception dinner at the villa, then moved the party down to the beach as the night went on.
- Drone-friendly?
- Yes. We flew here, and the aerials are in Veronica and Massimo's film above. We follow the drone laws of every country, city and local municipality, and the rules at historic sites: Taormina's ancient Greek theater would have been beautiful local color, but filming there is restricted, so we left it out.
- One tip for your timeline
- Plan how your guests get between the old town and the sea. Veronica and Massimo chartered a bus from the old town down to the reception, because it's a real hike on foot. Our crew stayed behind for portraits with the couple and took a private car down, so build that ride into the timeline for your photo and video team too.
